At our February 11th meeting, the club endorsed the Billionaire Tax-a ballot measure that will impose a 5% one-time tax on California’s Billionaires. SEIU-MHW is the largest financial backer of the measure. Supporters need to get 825,000 valid signatures in order to get the measure on the November ballot.
Ninety percent of the revenue collected would go to healthcare and 10% would go to food assistance.
Leah Pressman, chair of our club’s politics and elections committee, has been collecting signatures for the measure. Hit her up if you haven’t signed yet!
On February 18th, club members Jeff Schwartz, Leah Pressman, Greg Maron, and Club member and Culver City’s Vice Mayor, Bubba Fish all attended a rally for the ballot measure at the Wiltern Theatre headlined by Tom Morello and BERNIE SANDERS! Maybe you were there too!
