Confirm your Voter Registration
By now, most registered voters in Los Angeles County should have received confirmations in the mail that their sample ballots and voter information packets will be coming.
On October 5th, county elections officials shall begin mailing each registered voter a vote-by-mail ballot, a vote-by-mail packet that includes an envelope with instructions on the use and return of the vote-by-mail ballot, and other information including the locations and hours of each vote center in the county or polling place.
If you have not received your advances notice, or if you do not receive your voter information packet after October 5th, you should verify your voter registration.
You can check on line at: https://voterstatus.sos.ca.gov/ or by contacting your county elections office or the California Secretary of State at elections@sos.ca.gov or phone: (800) 345-8683.
If you can not verify your registration, you have until October 19th, as the last day to register to vote in the 2026 Midterms election. While you can register by mail, you can also register online using the Secretary of State’s online voter registration application (COVR), or deliver your registration to the county elections official, or submit it Department of Motor Vehicles, or any National Voter Registration Act designated agency.
But do not wait until the last minute, as the LA County elections officials shall have five days to mail a ballot to each person who is subsequently registered to vote beyond the initial mailing cut off. This means your ballot may not arrive until after October 25th. This is the day after which the Location of the Central Tally Center is Published.
Prepare Your Ballot choices in Advance
To save time with your ultimate voting process, you can review and select all your voting choices in advance. This way you can mark your choices on your mail in ballot as soon as it arrives. In addition to the US Representatives’, and the California governor’s races, there are all the local campaigns and ballot measures, which can often take most of your time to decide. You can wait until your voter information packet arrives for your full list, or you can access many of the online websites that include the various candidates and measures by zip code.
Interactive Sample Ballot- LA County Poll Pass
The Interactive Sample Ballot is an optional tool, accessible via isb.lavote.gov, that allows voters to access, review, and mark their selections prior to going to a Vote Center. The Interactive Sample Ballot is not online voting and does not store any identifiable information, once you access your Sample Ballot all of your selections are saved on your phone, computer or personal device. Know your Deadlines
Vote by Mail Ballot Processing begins on October 5th. You can turn in your ballot as soon after receiving it as you have it completed. When you receive your October 5th mailed ballot and information packet, the location of your specific polling place and local Ballot Drop Box will be included.
Vote as early as you can.
All county elections officials may begin to process vote-by-mail ballots as soon as they are received. This process may be completed to the point of placing the ballot information on a computer, but under NO circumstances may a vote count be accessed or released until 8:00 p.m. on November 3, 2026. By voting early your vote is secured in the processing system even before election day.
You have until October 19th, as the last day to register to vote in the 2026 Midterms election. October 24th is the day by which the Location of the Central Tally Center is Published. Until that date, anyone trying to interfere with the tally process may not have a target location. This means that ballots brought from ballot drop location to tally centers may be more subject to interference after the October 24th. This potentially would be the case for last minute registrations that might not receive their mail in ballots until after the 24th.
Our friends at Field Team Six, who run the voter registration concierge outside the Village Well every weekend, suggest you vote at a polling center or drop your ballot in one of the dedicated drop boxes, such as the one at the Culver City Library, because Trump might interfere with voting by mail.
If you are planning to vote in person on election day, November 8th, polling places will close by 8pm.
